Who runs World of Whippet …
Maile, Founder of WOW
A lifelong lover of dogs, Maile grew up with a Doberman and Beagle. She was first introduced to Whippets in 2014 and has owned and shown them since 2015. While living in Naples, Italy, she acquired her first Whippets from breeder Annalisa Rovani and breeder/judge Arnaldo Cotugno (Sobresalto).
Maile’s current dog activities include conformation shows, FastCAT, and serving on the board of the Greater San Diego Whippet Association. She previously worked on dog show ads for both Sighthound Review and Whippet Review magazines, owned by renowned Whippet breeder and judge, Bo Bengtson (Bohem).
Maile bred her Whippet litter in 2020 under the kennel prefix Makai Whippets.

Shelby, Co-Founder of WOW
Shelby’s accomplishments in the Whippet world are extensive and include the most coveted of all conformation awards: Winning Best of Breed at Crufts Dog Show in Birmingham, U.K. with a stunning bitch from her very first litter, CH West Chelan Quick Look at Me (Posh). She is an experienced handler and has successfully shown her dogs all over Europe while selectively breeding litters under the West Chelan prefix that embody true Whippet temperament and type. Upon returning the U.S.A., Shelby will be branching into judge certification and participating in the Whippet scene on this side of the pond once the moving dust has settled.
Shelby bred her first Whippet litter in 2017 under the kennel prefix West Chelan.
